A Bolt From The Blue

I just got a call that the converted barn on my Dad's farm where Geek Retreat was meant to be taking place has been hit by a bolt of lightning.

There is no major damage but it seems there are electricity and internet issues. It's a bit to close to the planned date for me to risk going ahead so I will have to postpone Geek Retreat for the time being.

I was a bit peeved to hear this but a postponement has two hidden benefits...

One: I get to go to attend of the many social media events happening in and around the same weekend.

and Two: We can hold Geek Retreat closer to the summer and therefore reap the benefit of some better weather. Perhaps an outside fire with some kind of acoustic jam session.

Sorry to the people that had put the time aside. I will keep you posted here on any further dates that crop up.

Who wants to come then?

Ok, A few of you have shown interest and now i need to pencil you guys in in semi-permanent marker ready for more of a confirmation closer the date.

I am thinking that anyone that was keen actually is following this blog so if you want to be invited to Geek Retreat, let me know in an email. Either send your email to podcast (@) documentally.com or info (@) geekretreat.info

Then if there are more than the allocated number I will be either drawing names out of a hat or waiting for bribes.. ;)

Still confused as to what it is?

No rules really.. Just a get-a-way really. after being inspired by Phil Campbell's N0SH1T I wanted to invite a select few people to bounce ideas off each other, to brainstorm their projects and perhaps even collaborate on new ideas. I got so much out of N0SH1T and PodcampUK and figured i would like to offer something back to the community.

So if you are not scared of a little trip into Wales you can join other like minded folk in a 5 star converted barn. It has a beautiful communal living space and a massive kitchen. People can stop for free and i thought we could all cook together and drink fine wines (or whatever) in an Epicurian style get together but with a twist of techy geekness.

Simply food, wine, nature, and sharing skills and ideas. That kind of thing.

Depending on the attendees we are looking at the 9th and 10th of February.
